the cover of Motherline Grimoire

I’m so happy to finally share the cover for Motherline Grimoire! Seeing it finished feels like a milestone after years of research, writing, and listening to DNA tell the stories that live beneath the surface of our lives.

At the center is a pomegranate, and I asked for this to be included specifically for its structure. When a pomegranate is opened, it looks like a root system, branching and interwoven, with each seed held in place by the same underlying form. That shape reflects the motherline itself. It's not a straight line, nor is it a hierarchy, but instead is a living network of descent, carried forward through ordinary women whose lives made our own possible. The seeds matter to me too. Each one stands on its own, yet none exists outside the whole. Together they hold continuity, memory, and survival across vast stretches of time.

If you look closely, you’ll also see mitochondrial haplogroup letters embedded into the background, and they’re subtle by design. This book is grounded in real genetic inheritance, but it’s not a science text. It’s about what it means to know that your body carries an unbroken maternal line, cell by cell, whether you’ve named it before or not, and it's about all the magic that we carry because of the women who came before us.

Motherline Grimoire is slated for release in December 2026, with preorders opening soon. I’m grateful to share this first glimpse of the cover, which was created by the amazing Kathryn at Weiser Books, and I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation about motherline magic as the book makes its way into the world.
